This guide shows how to disable the seatbelt warning chime (acoustic beep) on a BMW X5 E70 using OBDeleven coding, for driver only, passenger only, or both seats.

I earn from qualifying purchases and sometimes get tools for free (full disclosure). It never affects my scoring.

Step-by-step procedure

Connect OBDeleven

Plug the OBDeleven dongle into the OBD port and open the app. Connect to the vehicle.

Find the app / function

Go to the vehicle's app list and open the Seats category. Note: on the intro screen OBDeleven may say no one-click apps exist for this model, ignore that, the apps appear once you tap through into the category.

💡Pro tip: OBDeleven's intro page for the E70 may claim there are no one-click apps for this model. That's misleading, open the app list and the apps are there.

Change Seatbelt warning

Open the Seatbelt warning function and switch it from ON to OFF. You can choose Driver only, Passenger only, or both.

Save

Save/write the change and wait for confirmation.

🔧My experience: The seatbelt warning light on the dash stays on if the belt isn't buckled even after this change, only the acoustic beep is removed.
