These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of https://iamcarhacker.com (the “Website”) and everything offered through it: articles, reviews, procedures, videos, the AI assistant, the online tools, credits, the Car Electrician Course, the community and your account. By using the Website or buying anything on it, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Website.

1. Who we are

“We”, “us” and “our” mean Carhacker OÜ. “You” means the person using the Website. We communicate in English.

2. What the Website offers

  • Content: tool reviews, comparisons, procedures, guides and videos, free to read.
  • AI assistant: an automated chat that helps you choose a scanner.
  • Online tools: tools that process a file you upload (for example an EEPROM or flash dump) and return a result, such as a PIN or security code, an immobilizer status change, an ISN or a mileage value. Some tools cost credits.
  • Credits: prepaid units used to pay for online tools.
  • Car Electrician Course: a paid video course.
  • Membership and community: any account with a purchase of credits or the course is a member account. Members can ask and answer questions, share links and resources, and contact other members.

3. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy anything.
  • Keep your login details private. You are responsible for everything done with your account.
  • One account per person. Accounts may not be shared, sold or transferred.
  • Give us correct information, including a working email address, because tool results and purchase details are sent by email.

4. Educational content, no professional advice

Everything on the Website is published for education and information. It is based on hands-on work on real vehicles, testing of tools and research, but every vehicle, control unit and software version is different. Nothing on the Website is professional, manufacturer or legal advice, and nothing replaces manufacturer service documentation. You decide whether and how to use any information, and you do so at your own risk. See also the Disclaimer.

5. Lawful and authorized use only

Much of what the Website covers (key and immobilizer programming, reading and writing control units, cloning, coding, tuning, emissions systems and mileage) is legal only in certain situations and is regulated differently in each country. By using the Website you confirm that you will:

  • work only on vehicles and control units that you own, or that the owner has authorized you to work on;
  • never use any content, tool or result to steal a vehicle, to access a vehicle without permission, or to help anyone else do so;
  • never use any content, tool or result to misrepresent a vehicle’s mileage, history or condition to anyone, including a buyer, lessor, insurer or authority;
  • follow the laws of your country on emissions, roadworthiness, type approval, vehicle registration and software licensing;
  • take full responsibility for checking whether what you plan to do is legal where you are, before you do it.

We may refuse service, remove content, cancel results or close accounts where we reasonably suspect unlawful or unauthorized use, and we will cooperate with competent authorities where the law requires it.

6. Online tools

6.1 How they work

The tools process a file you upload. They do not connect to your vehicle. A result depends entirely on the file you provide and on the module being supported. Results are sent to the email address you enter.

6.2 Your responsibilities

  • Upload only files read from vehicles or modules you own or are authorized to work on.
  • Always keep an untouched backup of the original file before writing anything back to a control unit.
  • Check that the result makes sense for your vehicle before using it.

6.3 Mileage and immobilizer tools

Mileage tools may only be used to set the value that reflects the vehicle’s true total mileage, for example after replacing or repairing an instrument cluster or control unit. Tampering with an odometer to show a lower mileage is illegal in the European Union and in many other countries, and is forbidden on this Website. Immobilizer tools may only be used for repair, replacement, testing or other lawful purposes on authorized vehicles. Driving a vehicle with a disabled immobilizer on public roads may be illegal or may affect your insurance where you are.

6.4 Uploaded files

Uploaded files are processed on our server. Before storage, the unique part of the vehicle identification number (VIN) is masked. We keep the masked files to improve module support and to check results. By uploading a file, you allow us to store and analyze it for these purposes. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

6.5 No guarantee

Tools are provided “as is”. A tool may not support your module, may return no result, or may return a wrong result. Writing any file to a control unit can make it unusable. We are not liable for such outcomes, within the limits of section 12.

7. Credits

  • Credits are bought in packs and are added to your account after payment.
  • Credits are used to pay for online tools. The number of credits a tool needs is shown before you use it.
  • Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account and cannot be exchanged for money, except as described in the Refund Policy.
  • Credits do not expire while the Website operates. If we permanently shut down all credit-based tools, we will refund paid credits that are still unused.
  • Credits spent on a tool are not returned if the tool runs but the result does not work for you, because the processing has been carried out.

8. Car Electrician Course

  • Buying the course gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to watch it for as long as the course is offered, including future updates of the course.
  • The course may be offered as “early access”, which means lessons are still being added.
  • You may not share your login, download, record, re-upload, resell or publicly show the course, or use it to teach paid classes, without our written permission.
  • The course teaches methods and how to research a job. It does not guarantee that you can complete a particular job on a particular vehicle, or that you will earn any income.

9. Membership and community

Membership is free with any purchase of credits or the course and has no subscription. It stays active unless the purchase is fully refunded or the account is closed under these Terms. Use of the community is also governed by the Community Rules, which are part of these Terms.

9.1 Content you post

  • You are responsible for everything you post: questions, answers, shared links, files, images and experience reports.
  • You confirm that you have the right to post it and that posting it is legal.
  • You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, show, adapt (for example shorten or format) and use your content on the Website and in our services, including in anonymized form to improve tool coverage and our AI assistant, for as long as it is published and a reasonable time after.

9.2 Shared links and third-party files

Shared links point to files and websites that we do not host and do not control. We do not check, scan or license them. Downloading and using anything from a shared link is entirely at your own risk, including the risk of malware, of the file not working, and of breaking the software owner’s license terms. Using software that you are not licensed to use may be illegal where you are.

9.3 Moderation and reporting

We may remove or restrict any content and suspend or close any account that breaks these Terms or the Community Rules, at our discretion. Anyone can report content they believe is illegal or infringes their rights by following the reporting process in the Community Rules. When we act on a report or restrict your content or account, we tell you why, unless the law or safety prevents it.

10. AI assistant

  • Answers are generated automatically and can be wrong, outdated or invented. Check any answer before you rely on it.
  • Do not enter personal data, VINs, payment details or passwords into the chat.
  • Do not misuse the chat: no automated or abusive use, no attempts to manipulate it, no use of its answers to train other AI systems.
  • Conversations are logged as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Payments

  • Payments are processed by our checkout provider SureCart and its payment processors (such as Stripe and PayPal). We do not see or store your full card details.
  • Prices are shown at checkout, including any VAT that applies to you.
  • We may change prices for future purchases. A price change never affects a purchase you have already made.
  • Refunds are covered in the Refund Policy.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for damage to vehicles, control units, keys, tools or software, failed repairs or programming, loss of data, loss of income or business, fines, or any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of the Website, its content, the AI assistant, the online tools, community content or third-party products and links;
  • our total liability to you for all claims together is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

13. Indemnity

If you use the Website unlawfully, break these Terms, or post content that infringes someone’s rights, and a third party makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

14. Intellectual property and trademarks

The Website’s text, images, videos, procedures, tools, database of modules and branding belong to Carhacker OÜ or its licensors. You may not copy or republish them without written permission, except for short quotes with a link to the source. Names of vehicle makers, tools and software are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify the products discussed. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by them unless we say so.

15. Suspension and closing your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, that we reasonably suspect of unlawful use, or that is involved in a payment dispute. If we close an account for a serious breach, unused credits and course access are lost and no refund is due, except where the law requires otherwise.

16. Changes and availability

We can change the Website, add or remove features and tools, and update these Terms. Changes take effect when published. If a change materially affects something you have paid for, we will tell you by email in advance. We do not guarantee that the Website or any tool is always available or error free.

17. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. Courts of Estonia have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may also bring a claim in the courts there.
