How to disable seat belt warning on Mazda CX-7

Step 1 — Prepare the vehicle

  1. Turn ignition ON (engine OFF).
  2. Connect YOUCANIC scanner to OBD port.
  3. Open diagnostic app and connect to vehicle.

Step 2 — Enter programming menu

Navigate to:

Module Programming → Programmable Parameters → Warning Lamps / Chimes

This opens instrument cluster warning settings.


Step 3 — Change seat belt warning setting

Find parameter:

Passenger seat belt warning light/alarm – IC

Available options:

  • Light Enabled / Alarm Enabled
  • Light Enabled / Alarm Disabled
  • Light Disabled / Alarm Disabled

👉 Select Light Enabled / Alarm Disabled or prefered option.

This keeps dashboard warning light but disables chime.

(Some vehicles may allow disabling both light and alarm.)


Step 4 — Save configuration

  1. Confirm new setting.
  2. Wait for tool to write changes.
  3. Turn ignition OFF for ~10 seconds.
  4. Turn ignition ON again.
