Activate Hill Start Assist – Skoda Rapid 2015

Hill Start Assist (Hill Hold Control) helps prevent the car from rolling backward when starting on a hill. On some Skoda Rapid models, this feature is disabled from factory but can be activated via coding in the ABS module.

Step-by-step procedure

1. Connect to vehicle

Connect your OBD2 scanner and turn ignition ON (engine OFF).

2. Enter ABS module

Go to:

👉 Control Units → ABS / Brakes

3. Open Long Coding

Select:

👉 Long Coding

4. Enable Hill Start Assist

Go to Byte 16

You will see Hill Hold Control set as Inactive

👉 Tick the checkbox to activate it

This changes the value:

• from 4E → 4F (in my case)

⚠️ Note:
Your original value may be different, but enabling Hill Hold always changes the last bit of that byte.

5. Save coding

Confirm changes and wait for:

👉 Coding accepted

6. Adjust Hill Start Assist behavior (Adaptation)

Go to:

👉 Adaptation → Hill-start assistant

You can choose:

• Normal → standard behavior
• früh (early) → activates sooner
• spät (late) → activates later

✔ Recommended: Normal or früh

7. Save adaptation

Confirm and wait for:

👉 Adaptation accepted
