Step-by-step procedure

Connect the Kingbolen K8 Pro

Connect the Kingbolen K8 Pro to the OBD port, ignition on.

Go to Service, not Diagnostics

Go to Service, not Diagnostics. This function lives in the service menu, not the fault code menu.

Select Sunroof Initialization

Select Sunroof Initialization. The tool auto detects the BMW model, no manual selection needed.

Confirm the start

Confirm Yes when asked to start the adaptation.

Let the sunroof run its sequence

The sunroof moves through a sequence of positions on its own. No input needed at this stage, let it run.

Test the shade and the sunroof

Once it stops, the tool asks you to test the shade and the sunroof by pressing the switch. Press and hold, the movement should run all the way to the end position on its own.

Confirm to finish

If the shade and sunroof both complete the test movement correctly, confirm Yes to finish.

🔧My experience: What actually happened on my E91. Sunroof was sticking and sometimes not reacting to the switch at all. Ran Sunroof Initialization through the K8 Pro service menu, the roof cycled through its positions by itself, I confirmed the shade and sunroof test movement, and it's worked correctly since.
