From my experience with Volvo vehicles, most generic OBD2 scanners only give basic engine codes. If you want real diagnostics, you need a tool that can communicate with all modules like ABS, SRS, and transmission, and perform coding or adaptations. The best Volvo scanners give you access similar to the official VIDA system, letting you read every control unit and even update software if needed.
