Vgate iCar Pro Ble4.0 | Owner’s Review
Last Updated on April 11, 2026 by Juraj
I tested the Vgate iCar Pro BLE4.0 on multiple cars. It is a simple ELM327 adapter and works with both iOS and Android.
There is a newer and better version called Vgate iCar Pro 2S.
If the price difference is small, I recommend the new version.

What This Adapter Actually Is
iCar Pro BLE 4.0 is a basic ELM327 Bluetooth adapter.
It does not have its own software.
All functions depend on the app you use.
You can:
• read engine codes
• clear codes
• view live data
• check readiness monitors
• log data
• do simple customizations with Carista (if your car supports it)
It is not a multi-module scanner.
It communicates only with the engine ECU.
Test Results on Real Cars
I tested it using:
• Alfa Romeo Giulietta
• Fiat Punto 2004
• Skoda Fabia
• Toyota Corolla 2022
I checked adapter speed with ELM Validator app:
• Ping around 46 ms
This is “satisfactory” but not as fast as premium adapters like Vlinker FS or iCar Pro 2S.
The chip version is ELM327 v2.3, which means:
• faster communication
• sleep mode support
• stable performance
One pairing issue happened because I selected the wrong device (iOS Link on Android).
Once I paired correctly, everything worked immediately.
With Torque app:
• Read codes correctly
• Showed historical vs pending codes
• Displayed live data and graphs
• Logged drives with GPS overlay
With Car Scanner:
• Connected instantly
• Displayed readiness monitors
• Showed accurate live data graphs
• Allowed custom dashboard
Battery Safety
Sleep function works well.
You can leave it plugged in without draining battery, unlike many $5 adapters.
App Compatibility
Works with:
• Car Scanner
• Torque
• Carista (coding)
• DashCommand
• OBD Auto Doctor
• Dr. Prius
• Most ELM327 apps on iOS + Android
Anything that needs a special adapter (OBDeleven, ODIS, ThinkDiag) will not work.
Comparison With Other Adapters

iCar Pro BLE vs Vgate Vlinker FS

Vlinker FS is noticeably faster.
Better for coding and heavy live data.
Feature | iCar Pro BLE | Vlinker FS
Speed | Medium | Very fast
Chip | 2.3 | 2.2 custom
Coding | OK | Better
Sleep Mode | Yes | Yes
App Support | All | All
iCar Pro BLE vs iCar Pro 2S (NEW MODEL)

2S is the improved version.
Better speed, better stability.
Feature | BLE 4.0 | Pro 2S
Speed | Medium | Faster
Chip | 2.3 | Newer
Bluetooth | Older | BLE 5
Recommended | Only if cheaper | Yes
Final Verdict
iCar Pro BLE 4.0 is a good low-cost adapter.
It works on every phone, supports many apps, and has safe sleep mode.
Only real annoyance is pairing and the small size when unplugging.
If the price is close, get the Vgate iCar Pro 2S instead.
If you want maximum speed or coding stability, get Vlinker FS.
How to pair
Make sure you choose the correct device name. “iOS Vlink” for phones or “Android Vlink” for Android phones.
If it asks for a code, type in the “1234”

Conclusion: Pretty good adapter (ELM327 new version with sleep function), just make sure you select the correct device when pairing to avoid connection issues.
