Mucar VO8 | Owner’s review
Last Updated on April 11, 2026 by Juraj
Mucar VO8 is professional bi-directional scan tool. It will let you access all control modules in car, read out live data, do bi-directional tests or even ECU coding to unlock some hidden features. It also comes with extra adapters for older vehicles that don’t have classic 16-Pin OBD2 port.

Testing Mucar VO8

What can the Mucar V8 actually do?
This is a professional diagnostic tablet, not just a basic scanner.
Here’s what it supports:

| Feature | Support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Full-system diagnostics | ✅ | Access to every ECU |
| Bi-directional tests | ✅ | Control actuators in supported modules |
| ECU coding | ✅ (brand-dependent) | Adaptations, basic settings, long coding (VW) |
| Service functions | ✅ | Many OEM resets included |
| PDF Diagnostic Reports | ✅ | Sharable via email/Bluetooth |
| Live data with graphing | ✅ | 12 graphs at once + recording |
| Customer management | ✅ | Ideal for small workshops |
| Adapters for older cars | ✅ | Works beyond standard OBD2 |
| Intelligent VIN scan | ✅ | Auto-detect on supported cars |
| Wi-Fi software updates | ✅ | Regular feature additions |
In short: It does everything — including pro features like ECU coding.
What’s in the box?

- Diagnostic tablet
- Bluetooth VCI (wireless connection ?)
- Full case of adapters for older non-OBD2 cars
- Charging cable
- Protective case
This gives it much wider vehicle coverage than simple dongles.
Diagnostics & VIN Auto-Scan

Tested on Citroën Jumpy:
- VIN recognition ✅
- Full scan time: ~1 min 15 sec
- Found 17 modules → 10 fault codes
- Professional-looking PDF report created
- Reports auto-save inside the device and can be emailed to a customer ?
Control Module Functions
Inside any ECU you can:
✅ Read module info
✅ Read or clear codes
✅ View live data
✅ Perform bi-directional tests
✅ Adjust special functions
✅ Customize car settings (brand-dependent)
Example shown:
- Turned on windshield wipers directly from scanner ✅
- Attempted washer fluid test ✅ (tank empty ?)
ECU Coding (Premium Feature)
On VW Golf 5, advanced OEM functions were unlocked:
- Long coding
- Adaptations
- Basic settings
Example:
Enabled US-style permanent turn signals ✅
(changed coding in body control module)
Not all cars support coding — varies by model/software.
Live Data & Engine Diagnostics
In OBD2 mode:
- Build custom dashboards
- Record live data while driving
- View 12 graphs simultaneously
- Combine up to 4 values per graph
- Compare saved data before/after a repair ✅
Very useful for real-world diagnostics, not just reading codes.
Works on Older Cars Too

Thanks to included adapters, it supports:
- Pre-OBD2 vehicles
- Commercial vans
- Certain unique/proprietary connectors
This is a big advantage over most tablet scanners in this price range.
Extra Software Features
- Fault code lookup database
- Customer management profile
- Multiple language support
- Coverage database checker
- Offline use possible (except updates)
My Verdict After Testing
“A very capable mechanic-level tool — especially if you work with older vehicles or need OEM coding.”
Strengths:
✅ Full-system + bi-directional functions
✅ ECU coding support
✅ 12-graph live data + recording
✅ Great reporting for customers
✅ Includes adapters for non-OBD2 cars
✅ Wireless VCI (no cables)
Things to consider:
⚠️ Slightly bulkier to carry than Bluetooth dongles
⚠️ The Mucar 892BT Bluetooth is cheaper and now has a faster full-scan update
