Forum Guide & Rules — Read First
👋 Welcome to the iamcarhacker community
This is your space to ask diagnostic questions, share fixes, and learn from real-world cases. I read every post and reply when I can — and members help each other along the way.
Before you post, a few quick guidelines to keep this place useful for everyone.
📍 Where to post
Pick the forum that fits your question:
- OBD2 Scanners — scanner picks, comparisons, what works on what car, hands-on questions about specific tools
- Software/Hardware — INPA, VCDS, ECU tuning software, K+DCAN cables, programmers, drivers, setup help
- General Discussion — anything else: fault codes, procedures, brand-specific questions, off-topic, suggestions
Not sure where it fits? Post in General Discussion. I’ll move it if needed.
✅ How to ask a good question
The more detail you give, the faster you get a useful answer. Try to include:
- Car: year, make, model, engine code (e.g. BMW 320d E46 M47)
- Mileage and any recent work done
- What scanner you’re using
- Exact fault codes (with full code, not just “P0420”)
- What you’ve already tried
- Photos or screenshots if relevant
A two-line question with no context will sit unanswered. A detailed question gets help from me and other members.
🚫 What not to post
- No spam, self-promotion, or affiliate links to your own sites
- No personal attacks on other members
- Keep it on-topic — this is a diagnostic community
💡 Tips for getting the most out of membership
- Browse the Pro Videos library before asking — your question may already be covered: /pro-videos/
- Search the forum first — same applies to community threads
- Reply to threads where you have experience — pay it forward
- Tag me directly if you’ve been waiting and want my eyes on something specific

For everything else — diagnostic questions, content requests, feedback — the forum is the right place. Other members benefit from seeing your question and my answer.
Thanks for being here. Looking forward to seeing what you’re working on.
