Step-by-step procedure
Step 1: Open the hood
Pop the hood from the cabin release. You don’t need to lift it fully, just unlatch it so it pops up.
Step 2: Connect Carista and open Customize
Plug your adapter into the OBD port, pair Carista, and go into the Customize menu. Give it a moment to read the car.
Step 3: Open the right category
Once it finishes loading, select the Dings and warnings category. Both settings you need live in here.
Step 4: Change the two settings
This is the part most people get wrong. There are two separate settings, and you have to change both or the chime keeps coming back.
- Seatbelt warning: change from
EnabledtoDisabled. - Seatbelt warning style: change from
EU(orUS) toNo seatbelt warning.
Save and let Carista write the change.
Don’t flip only “Seatbelt warning” to Disabled and expect silence. On the Kodiaq the warning style is a second control. Leave it on EU or US and the chime can still fire. Change both.
The Kodiaq splits the seatbelt nag into two settings: the warning itself and the warning style. Kill both. One without the other is why people think Carista “didn’t work.”
Step 5: Verify
Start the car, sit without the belt, and confirm the chime and the dash warning stay quiet. If the visual warning is gone but you still hear a beep, recheck that the style is set to No seatbelt warning.
Additional Information & Compatibility Notes
Before using or purchasing any diagnostic tool for this procedure, always verify compatibility with your exact vehicle model, year and system configuration. Carista’s customization options vary by model year and module software, so the exact wording of the two settings can differ slightly between cars. Customization is a paid Carista feature.
