Vgate VLinker MS TESTED | Faster Than Cheap ELM327
I tested the Vgate vLinker MS on multiple cars and compared it directly with OBDLink MX+ and Vgate iCar Pro 2S. This adapter uses the newest ELM version, has a pairing button, and works with all common ELM apps on iOS and Android.

Vlinker MS
vLinker MS is a premium-level ELM327 adapter without a premium price.
It works with all ELM apps and supports both iOS and Android.
The newest ELM version 2.3 gives it excellent connection speed, almost identical to OBDLink Mx+, if you are looking for a better ELM adapter but don’t want to spend that much money.
It also includes a pairing button, which prevents random devices from connecting to your car.
This is something cheaper ELM adapters usually do not have.

What This Tool Actually Is
VLinker MS is an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter for engine diagnostics and performance data logging.
It does not come with its own app.
You must use apps like Car Scanner, OBD Auto Doctor, Torque, BimmerCode, AlfaOBD, Forscan Lite, and others.
It is designed for people who want a fast ELM adapter without paying OBDLink prices.
Test Results on Real Cars
I tested it on multiple cars.
Cars used
• Toyota Corolla
• Renault Kangoo
• Fiat Punto
• several used-car checks
Pairing and Setup
Very easy.
Press the pairing button and the adapter appears instantly in the device list.
This prevents unauthorized connections.
Speed Test
Using Car Scanner and ELM speed test apps, vLinker MS reached about 7 ms response time.
This is extremely fast for an ELM adapter.
OBDLink MX+ scored about 6 ms on the same test.
So the difference is almost nothing in real use.
Vgate iCar Pro 2S is slower and uses older ELM versions.
Real Use in Apps
Works perfectly with
• Car Scanner
• Torque Pro
• OBD Auto Doctor
• AlfaOBD
• BimmerCode (limited support due to iOS restrictions)
• many performance and logging apps
Live data is smooth and stable.
No disconnects during driving.
Advanced Tasks
For coding or special functions in brand-specific apps, you need fast response.
vLinker MS handled these tasks well.
For heavy coding on BMW or Alfa, OBDLink MX+ is still slightly safer because developers optimize for it.
But vLinker MS is close enough for most users.
Manufacturer Specs vs Real Testing
| Area | Manufacturer Claim | What I Saw in Testing |
|---|---|---|
| ELM version | 2.3 | confirmed |
| Speed | very fast | 7 ms response |
| Security | pairing button | confirmed |
| App compatibility | all ELM apps | confirmed |
| iOS + Android | supported | confirmed |
| Coding support | app-dependent | works when app supports it |
Hardware / Software / Plans / Internet Dependency
Hardware is compact and well built.
Plastic quality is better than cheap clones.
No subscription, no accounts, no activation.
Just pair and use with any app.
Internet needed only for apps that require it.
Supported Service Resets
None directly.
It depends on the app.
ELM327 adapters do not support full-system diagnostics or service procedures unless the app implements a special workaround.
For resets, a multi-brand scanner like Mucar BT200 Max or Topdon TopScan is required.
Supported Languages
Depends on the app you use.
Car Scanner offers the best translation quality.

| Security | pairing button | enhanced security |

vLinker MS vs Vgate iCar Pro 2S

iCar Pro 2S is cheaper but slower. (slower than MS, but generally still above average for its price)
vLinker MS is faster, newer, and has a pairing button.

VLinker MS vs Mucar BT200 Max

Different categories, but useful comparison.
BT200 Max is a full-system diagnostic tool with bi-directional tests.
vLinker MS is engine-only unless apps add deeper access.
If you need real diagnostics → BT200 Max.
If you want fast ELM performance → vLinker MS.
Final Verdict
vLinker MS is one of the best ELM327 adapters you can buy for the money.
Very fast, secure, and works with every app I tested.
Close to OBDLink MX+ performance at half the price.
If you only need engine diagnostics, logging, or basic coding, it is perfect.
If you want full-system scanning or service resets, get a proper multi-brand scanner.
How to save money
Look for official Vgate store deals.
Avoid cheap clones since speed and stability matter with ELM adapters.
