Blacktec 420 code reader: OWNER’S REVIEW
Last Updated on April 11, 2026 by Juraj
Blacktec 420 is an interesting code reader that seems to be different from others mostly because of Bluetooth connection and their own diagnostic app. Unfortunately, the app was not available in my location so I couldn’t test it out.

Blacktec 420 – Quick Overview

Blacktec 420
The Blacktec 420 is not very user friendly and not that useful.
- Good concept
- Hard to navigate and use and could have more featrues
- App did not work (it says not supported for my location)

I tried it on a few cars including my old 1998 Passat which can be a challenge for a lot of code readers.
It worked fine.

After using it for a few times I got a hand of the buttons and what they do but it still hard to navigate in comparison to other code readers.
It can read codes and live data.

I mean it isn’t a bad code reader, but I tested lot of different code readers and there are some better choices.
